The Road to Publication

Every author walks this road at one point or another. It’s a road that they hope leads to the promised land of publication and…

snort…

I’m sorry, that’s way too formal and so stuffy. It’s not me. Let’s try this again.

So for the past few months, I’ve been spending time in the Geek Confessional and, for some odd reason, I started telling the story of how I went from wannabe published author to actually published author. That wasn’t my original intention in writing the confessional posts; it was supposed to be a light-hearted way to poke fun at myself and share some of my more geeky foibles. But whatever.

As I’ve been working on this, though, I’ve come to realize that, while I’ve been proceeding chronologically in the last half dozen posts or so, that hasn’t always been the case. I’ve been telling bits and pieces of my publishing journey for the past…holy cow. Three years?!?!?

Ahem. Wow. Didn’t seem that long.

Anyway, these bits and pieces have been scattered through lots of Geek Confessionals, but they’re not in the right order. So I decided to remedy that.

This is a new/old series for my blog, entitled “The Road to Publication” (because five published books in and I still hate coming up with titles). By following the navigation widget at the top of this post and the bottom of this post, you can jump through my blog in the correct chronological order.

Now, since I really didn’t intend for most of these posts to be read in that order, things might seem a little choppy. But you’ll get the general idea of how a kid started drawing really awful comic books in the fifth grade and would eventually go on to trick someone into publishing his books to achieve his life-long dream of being a published author.

I have no idea if you’ll learn anything from my story. Maybe a nugget here and there? But enjoy the journey. I think I have, for the most part.

  1. LOL! I’ve truly enjoyed the Geek Confessional, not only because of the publishing bits, but also with the parts that showed your journey through many different parts in various media. It’s nice to know I’m not the only writer out there who wants to do more than one thing at a time ^__~ This also gave a great personal perspective that gives reasons to others to keep going with their quests. *HUGS* LUV YA BUNCHES IN JESUS WITH HUGS & PRAYERS!
