Wordcount Wednesday

And I’m back in the saddle again…

Those of you who have been following my writing posts lately know that I had sort of a false start recently. Since I’m kind of between projects and waiting to hear from my publisher on one in particular, I decided to resurrect a fantasy novel I wrote close to a decade ago. My agent convinced me that I should probably take a different take on this story. So I started over again, going all the way back to the drawing board.

So what’s my drawing board look like? Well, I’m a firm believer in the Snowflake Method, a method of outlining and planning a story based on fractals. It’s really cool and all of the books I’ve published were created using this method. I really like it (although it’s not for everyone; if you’re more of a seat-of-the-pants writer, it may not work for you). But earlier this week, I finally finished the outlining process and I started putting words on the page.

For now, I’m calling this project “Mourning Dove.” I don’t have a working title for it yet; this is actually a remnant from the original manuscript from ten years ago. Hopefully I’ll come up with something better as I go. Truth be told, I hate coming up with titles.

So I haven’t clocked in many words. Right now, the manuscript is 2,735 words. I’ll be chipping away at that over the next week, but at the end of next week, I’ll be taking a bit of a break. I’ll be attending the 2016 National Youth Gathering in New Orleans. But once I’m home, hopefully this will be able to really take off.

Strap in, folks. This is going to be fun.

One Comment:

  1. COOL! I usually begin writing and creating characters THEN begin an outline O_O YEAH, i’m not usual either ^___^ Can’t wait to see more about your new one. I’ve loved ALL of the books you’ve written that I got, so more of yours means more for me to read & squeal with glee. YAY! I’m working on separating the text to insert in the Paperback formatting to get it out with the E-Book then the CD with the music used in it. AND I just got a commissioned character pic of my Murai Tenshi (Warrior Angel) named Lazzaro by my character designer in time for mine and Ken’s 16th Wedding Anniversary 07/07/16! LUV YA BUNCHES IN JESUS, WRITER PASTOR BRO! TK ^___~ http://www.eirinth.com
