Hey guys, I’m going to “break character” so to speak and just bring this series to a close.

What’s become increasingly clear to me is that I’m a lousy horror writer. While I may love found footage horror movies, I don’t have the first clue about writing them. And in recent weeks, I’ve been flailing a little since I didn’t know how the story would end or even how to build the right kind of scary scenes.

So this is what I’m going to do: I’m going to tell you in broad strokes how this movie would have ended:

If you haven’t figured it out by now, the monster in my movie is Slenderman, a monster created entirely on the Internet. If you’ve visited my YouTube channel, you’ve seen me play the game Slender, which kind of inspired this whole thing.

Basically, in the remainder of the movie, Staci and her friends would try frantically to learn what was going on. They’d track down the kid that Leon saw in the woods (who would also turn out to be the same kid that Professor Weathers saw at the beginning of the movie), only to learn that the kid was the last victim who disappeared.

Eventually, as night falls on the last day in the cycle, they would be driven out of town by the sheriff and the rest of the townsfolk. Ray would confidently lead them into the woods again, stating that he knows that they would be safe there. But once they’re in the “bad place,” all four of them would be hunted down by Slenderman.

More specifically, it would play out like this: Ray (who has been exhibiting all the signs of being one of Slenderman’s proxies) becomes more and more threatening until suddenly, Bethany would turn on him and kill him. She would reveal that Slenderman is controlling her as well and she would chase Leon and Staci through the woods until Leon would sacrifice himself to try to get Staci to safety. Staci would grab the camera and try to hide, all the while being herded by the sheriff and his cronies until finally, Slenderman would catch her and she would vanish.

That would be where the footage ended. We would cut back to Professor Weather’s office. She would react with fear and horror at what she saw, but then the camera would spark and fuzz until we realized that Slenderman was standing behind her too. The footage cuts off abruptly and a note would explain that no trace of Professor Weathers or the four missing students had ever been found and that law enforcement officials decided the whole thing was an elaborate hoax.

So there we have it, folks. That’s how I would have finished this story. In some ways, I’m sorry that I kind of petered out in telling it, but there we go.

Now that doesn’t mean that I’m done telling stories on this blog. Far from it. I’m thinking of trying a new experiment soon. Hopefully it’ll go a little better than this one. Stay tuned. I’ll hopefully have more details soon!
