So, yeah, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? It seems like every time I make a promise to myself that I’m going to blog more, I wind up breaking it almost immediately. I mean, the last time that I made this promise was two years ago. When I logged into my website to write this post, I fully expected to find my website infested with mold or spiders or…
This isn’t making you want to come back here anytime soon, is it?
What made me return to this particular corner of cyberspace? Some exciting news!
If you’ve been paying attention over the past few years, I’ve been working on a project that’s been known only as #gottabebae. Even though I haven’t updated the wordcount tracker on this site, I’ve slowly been chipping away at it. I finally gave it an actual title instead of a meme, only to change the name two times. Now it’s known as Drawn in Ash. And the time has come to see if we can’t get this baby launched.
To that end, this morning I launched my first ever Kickstarter. You can check it out here. I’m trying to raise funds for one final edit along with a fantastic cover for the book.
So what do I need you to do? Well, two things:
First, if you have the economic means, please consider backing the project. There are a lot of fun rewards to choose from, such as:
- The Grab Bag – Get a copy of the book as both an ebook and as a paperback, plus a random book from my bookshelf. What will you get? I have no idea either.
- The Marginalia – Get an ebook and an autographed paperback, but the paperback will have notes written in the margins by me. Ever wonder what an author thinks of his or her own story? Now’s your chance to find out.
- The Person Behind the Curtain – There’s only one of these available, but boy, will it be a fun one. If you purchase this one, not only do you get the ebook, an autographed and annotated paperback, but you also get to work with me to create a villain for the sequel. This could mean learning some major spoilers, but you do get to leave your mark on a future book.
Second, please help me by sharing the campaign itself. I’ve had a great first day, but I have a long way to go before this project is fully funded.
