Wordcount Wednesday

Ugh. It would appear that I done lost my mojo.

Remember how, two weeks ago, I reported that I had lost my momentum? Yeah…it kind of never came back. I’m not entirely sure why that is. For some reason, the schedule I had worked out to let me rack up some good numbers hasn’t worked that well for the past week and a half. Plus I hit a pretty bad case of writers’ block. And…well, more excuses.

Whatever the reason, I haven’t done that well. In the past two weeks, I’ve only written 6,180 words, bringing my grand total up to 47,844 words. I know that 6k+ words looks pretty cool, but I had kind of set a goal for myself to write almost twice that many every week. So yeah, not feeling too good about myself right now.

But it’s not all doom and gloom in spite of my dismal numbers. I think I’ve pushed past the block and, while the scene is still giving me some fits, I should get it down in a very rough form and be able to keep writing. I am a little worried about how long this book is getting. Plot-wise, I think I’m about a third of the way through the story, but I’m quickly approaching what should be the halfway point. Editing should smooth some of that over.

And I have been keeping up with the #WIPJoy content on Twitter. Maybe you’ve seen it. Maybe you missed it. Either way, here are the entries from the past two weeks:

  1. Good article. I’ll be praying for your writing. My writing? My momentum ended when the Republicans took over the Senate in 2014. Maybe before that even. (Actually, I don’t know if I did any writing since the beginning of ’14.)

  2. By the way, let me give a definition of writer’s block I heard: It’s when your imaginary friends won’t talk to you.
