Thanks to some theological musings prompted by the writings of C. S. Lewis, I had stumbled into a science fiction trilogy about a group of aliens on the hunt for grace. And I was bound and determined to get this thing published. I just had a feeling about it. This…
I’ve been spending a lot of time talking about all the garbage that I wrote when I was younger. And make no mistake, all of those writing projects were awful, no two ways about it. None of the stories I wrote were worthy of publication. That didn’t mean I stopped…
So over the past few trips to the confessional, I’ve been telling the story of all of my various writing projects. I never really intended for the Geek Confessional to be my authorial autobiography, but it’s kind of turned into that. Hope you don’t mind. Anyway, while I was in…
So usually, when I write one of these reviews, I take a moment to opine and give a little one shot summary of what my thoughts are. Well, I just got back from seeing Doctor Strange and it’s taking a little while to unbend my mind, so you’ll forgive me…

You know, I’ve shared a lot about my writing career (such as it is) in the Confessional over the past few months. I’ve talked about my attempts at writing for TV, movies, and the stage. I’ve shared my awful Star Trek/Star Wars crossover fanfiction. But it occurs to me, I…
Ugh. This week’s report comes with a hefty lesson in momentum, one that I learned a long time ago, but relearned in a painful way. But numbers first, and then excuses. This week was not good. I was only able to add another 4,098 words to my current work-in-progress, bringing…
So it would appear that my pace faltered a little this week. I was only able to tack an additional 9,281 words onto “Mourning Dove,” bringing the grand total to 37,566 words. I’m actually not that disappointed in those numbers. That meant that, over the past week, I’ve averaged 1,325…
