Who you gonna call?
So how many of you filled-in-the-blank on that question? If you were a child of the ’80s, it was probably a mental reflex, an unavoidable reaction that you simply can’t control. If you’re bothered by paranormal activity and you need a haunting to end, who you gonna call? You know it’s going to be the Ghostbusters.
Sometimes a person or organization becomes so good or so ubiquitous that we just automatically think of that individual or entity. It becomes reflexive. For example, if I want the best person for song parodies, you know the first and only name I’m going to think of is “Weird Al” Yankovic. If I want the best team of movie mockers, I’m going to for the folks of MST3K. If I want the best of the new Doctors, I’m going to go to David Tenant.
Sorry. Some things are just empirically true.
So who do we go to when we need saving? What name pops to mind?
Sadly, far too many people want to rely on themselves. They think that they’re good enough, they’re strong enough, and doggone it, people like them. If they need saving (and it’s no sure thing that they do), they’ll take care of it, no worries.
But they should be worried. Salvation can come from only one name. That’s something that the Apostles Peter and John made abundantly clear in the book of Acts:
There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved.
If you’re looking for the one Name that offers salvation, the only name you need is Jesus. It is His death and resurrection that sets us free.
Jesus’ is the only Name you need.
