Wordcount Wednesday

Well, I’ve been kind of off in reporting my wordcount, haven’t I? Life has thrown a lot at us here in Missouri, what with kids going back to school (actually, my wife went back to school, but as a teacher, not a student). And with all the changes to life and routines and stuff, finding the time to write has been a bit of a challenge.

But not completely impossible. Since I reported last time, I’ve managed to add 7,196 words, bringing my total up to 16,519 words. It’s been slow going, but I’m hoping that as we all settle into routines, I’ll be able to step things up a little.

Part of what’s frustrating me right now is that my imagination is ranging well ahead of where I am in the story. There’s a fair amount of backstory that informs the tale I’m writing, and I’ve been puzzling over how to synthesize it all together. A lot of ideas are starting to flow together and I’m getting excited about how all of it may come together. But I want to get to all of that right now!

I’m hoping that I’ll be able to finish the first draft of this one by the end of November. Hopefully. But if things keep gelling, maybe I’ll be able to get there a whole lot sooner. Time will tell.

One Comment:

  1. I hate it when my mind goes so far ahead when I’m not ready to write it yet! Thank you for letting me know I’m not alone >___< *LOL* BTW, my Paperback is now up at the Create Space store as of 08/24/16! Yep…I got it done ^___^ I also just did the final update (hopefully) to my E-Book of BREAKING THE SHACKLES too so both will be about the same now. Continuity!
