Take a Seat in the Confessional!

One of my favorite series that I’ve done on this website is the “Geek Confessional.” It’s a chance for me to unburden myself about some of the more geeky things I’ve done or loved over the years. You can check out what I’ve admitted by clicking this link. I’ve got over a dozen more confessions stored up, and I’m thinking of more all the time. It’s been a lot of fun sharing these stories with you, but I wanted to give all of you the chance to ‘fess up too.

Are you a geek? Do you have some deep, dark geeky secret lurking within you? Confession is good for the soul. I’m looking for people to take a turn in the Geek Confessional. If you have something you want to share with the class, drop me a line and let me know what it is. If it piques my interest, I’ll hand the mic on over to you. I’ll give you proper credit. I’ll link to your website or blog.

They say confession is good for the soul. Let’s do some soul-improving, shall we?

  1. Hi, I’m Patrick.

Confession: For several months I played Dungeons and Dragons over AOL Chat with a kid from Florida who had a serious condition effecting his spine. We met over an online Playstation 2 Online Review and News site that we worked for at that time.

I also beta-tested some PS2 Games for Sony during my Vicarage/Internship.

  2. I spent a few weeks during a summer in the 90s designing a series of levels for Star Wars: Dark Forces. Around the same time, I wrote a roughly 110 page chain story of Star Wars fan faction with my brother. In one of my segments of the story, there was a fist fight between I believe Boba Fett and Kyle Katarn. To help me get the physical aspects of the fight correct, I paced two GI Joe action figures through the fight as I wrote it.

Of course you also were involved in all those things, soooo…. šŸ˜‰

  3. I love DC and Marvel comics. Late at night, when the rest of the family is asleep, I read graphic novels and sometimes eat ice cream.

  4. I am literally a geek. My initials are GEKE (a different kind of geek). It’s hard to think of how I’m not a geek.
I’d have to say one of the geekier things about me is when “LOST” was on TV, I asked for an iPod so I could listen to “LOST” podcasts. I would listen to hours of them each week. A lot were theories of what was happening on the show. In many ways the podcast fandom was as much a part of the show as the actual show.
