Wordcount Wednesday

It’s been a while. I can’t remember the last time I wrote one of my wordcount updates. It’s not that I haven’t been writing. I have. But each time I thought about doing one, I never really got around to it.

So what’s been going on? Well, let’s see here…

I’ve finished up a new manuscript, a young adult fantasy novel that I’m calling Unmasked. I’ve shared bits and pieces about it on the blog for the past year. It’s been off with some beta readers and I’ve almost got it to the point where it’ll be ready to be shown around to potential publishing houses.

So this past week, I got to thinking about what my next big project should be. I’ve had a few ideas rattling around in my head: writing the second book of The Vaults of Heaven trilogy (of which The Iron Staff is the first book). Or maybe I should focus on a young adult sci fi book idea that I’ve nicknamed the Jupiter Dragons story. But what I’ve decided on is working on a new young adult fantasy trilogy that I’m calling the “Ideals Magic” trilogy for now. Mostly because I stink at titles.

I’ve been letting this one mulch for a while. Like two or three years. I’ve put together a twenty page story bible for this thing with notes on magic systems, culture, history, politics, and so on. I even started musing on one aspect about it last night. I’m trying to come up with a fictional language for this storyworld:

That part has me a little nervous. I’ve studied some ancient and modern languages, but I’m not a philologist like J.R.R. Tolkien.

But that’s not the important part of this post. I’ll be working on getting this project up and running in the coming weeks. Keep an eye on the graphs to the write to see how it progresses.

That’s it for now. So I’m curious: what are you reading this summer?

One Comment:

  1. Wow… and I thought I was working on multiple projects! *LOL* Thanks for letting me know again that I’m not alone. I get the new proof for my paperback Saturday since I changed the front cover for BREAKING THE SHACKLES because people still thought it was a “comic” book just by looking at the cover. I’ve taken the cover down to 1 character, so maybe the people will get a brain >__< Yeah, I know, that's asking for A LOT, so I'll just keep praying the ones I wrote the book for will check it out. "Jupiter Dragons" sounds interesting, so I'm curious now what it'd be about. I have to get serious about a scene-by-scene chapter outline for TREADING THE PATH soon so Book 2 can go forward better. Update us and we'll keep reading! Tonja Condray Klein at http://www.eirinth.com .
